Camp Discovery & Camp Discovery JuniorCamp Discovery
Ages: 5-12Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm Nonmember Fee: $170/camper Member Fee: $135/camper Camp Discovery offers children time to explore, observe, and study nature through fun hands-on activities, games, and crafts. Supervised by our professionally trained staff, campers will investigate our outdoor wonderland through age-appropriate activities based upon the weekly theme. Every session will end with an exciting "Friday Festival" which will help to reinforce the experiences of the week. Camp Discovery Junior
Ages: 4-6Time: 9:00am to 12:00noon Nonmember Fee: $85/camper Member Fee: $70/camper Camp Discovery Junior is offered for younger campers, ages 4-6, that would enjoy only a half-day of camp. Our Junior Campers explore the same themes as the Camp Discovery campers, but the week's activities are specifically adapted for a younger audience. Session DescriptionsSuper SnoopersDates: June 21 - June 25Camp Discovery Code: DIS1 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR1 Join us for a week of mystery as we snoop around forests, wetlands and prairies to investigate all of nature’s secrets. We will use our senses to experience nature to the fullest and uncover its many mysteries and hidden surprises. Choose Your Own AdventureDates: June 28 - July 2Camp Discovery Code: DIS2 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR2 This week is all about adventure. Every afternoon each camper will have control over the fun they have by choosing the activities they take part in. Activities may include insect collecting, scavenger hunts, boating and more! Wild ChildDates: July 6 - July 9Camp Discovery Code: DIS3 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR3 This week we will work together to learn safe fire and shelter building, edible plants, and other skills necessary to spend a primitive night in the woods. This short week includes dinner and an overnight on Thursday July 8, where our bravest campers will put their newly learned survival skills to the test. (Overnight is for campers ages 7 and up.) Space is limited this week; please register early to reserve your camper’s spot. Rockin' RiversDates: July 12 - July 16Camp Discovery Code: DIS4 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR4 Campers will rock and roll this week through river exploration and fun! We will fish, boat, and discover all there is to know about one of Michigan’s most important natural resources: the Grand River. Space is limited this week, please register early. Whether they are furry, scaly, or slimy all Michigan animals are extraordinary. Live animal study and exploration will help campers discover the many mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians living at Woldumar. Myths & MagicDates: July 19 - July 23Camp Discovery Code: DIS5 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR5 Woldumar is full of many “magical” plants and animals both real and mythical. Campers will explore the many amazing adaptations that allow plants and animals to survive through every season. If luck is on their side campers may even catch a glimpse of Woldumar’s resident mythical creatures, the Houga Hougas. Some of the coolest and most important things to study at Woldumar are the trees and plants that make each habitat unique. Through hands-on activities and exploration, campers will compare forest, wetland and prairie habitats and the animals that are found in each. Wet and WildDates: July 26 - July 30Camp Discovery Code: DIS6 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR6 No one will be dry this week as campers explore Woldumar’s wonderful wetlands and discover amazing aquatic creatures. We will learn all about water and why it is so important to every living thing. We will end the week with a splash during an exciting Water Carnival! Cabin FeverDates: August 2 - August 6Camp Discovery Code: DIS7 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR7 Can you imagine life without video games, television, or even cars? Campers will become time travelers and experience life before all these modern day inventions. Games, crafts, hikes and a visit to a 19th century log cabin will demonstrate how people lived long ago. Under Our FeetDates: August 9 - August 13Camp Discovery Code: DIS8 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR8 As we explore we’ll look up, over and all around, but we won’t forget to look down! Some of the most fascinating creatures are right under our feet. Campers will get down and dirty this week, as they explore the underground world of roots, rocks and roly-polys. Intrepid ExplorersDates: August 16 - August 20Camp Discovery Code: DIS9 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR9 Campers will go on an advanced adventure this week as we focus on new technologies, like GPS units, that make life easier to survive in the wilderness. This week includes dinner and an overnight on Thursday August 19. (Overnight is for campers ages 7 and up.) Space is limited this week; please register early to reserve your campers spot. Note: There is an additional $30 fee for campers staying overnight. Web of LifeDates: August 23 - August 27Camp Discovery Code: DIS10 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR10 Every living thing on the Earth is connected. What happens to mice, affects eagles, clovers and even insects. Campers will learn all about these natural connections and what we can do to help. We will get up close and personal with some of Woldumar’s resident creatures in a study of natural cycles. Things with WingsDates: August 30 - September 3Camp Discovery Code: DIS11 Camp Discovery Junior Code: JNR11 Does your child like to buzz around as much as we do? Campers will spend the week studying the flappers and flyers that share Woldumar’s air space. We’ll bring in live animals for up-close observation and also spend plenty of time on the trails searching for and studying winged creatures big and small. | ||||
