Special Program Highlight:

Woldumar hosts a myriad of programming. Some of these programs are just one or two days while others allow us to build on programs throughout a week or even a year. One example is a partnership we have with Montessori Children's House of Lansing. It allows us to engage the same students once a month for an entire school year. Each time they visit us, we focus on a new program. Students pull macroinvertebrates from the woodland pond, enjoy snowshoeing in the winter, go on a hunt for animal tracks and scat, and even bust out the binoculars to look for birds. Read their newsletter post below about what this partnership means to Montessori Children's House and their students!

"At Montessori Children’s House of Lansing, we believe some of the most powerful lessons begin under open skies. When children step outside and learn amidst leaves, trees and fresh air, they engage all their senses and awaken a deeper connection to the world around them. That’s why our partnership with Woldumar Nature Center is deeply meaningful: Woldumar’s forested grounds, ponds and trails become living classrooms where young learners explore habitats, ask questions and observe ecosystems in action.

The immersive outdoor education helps children build curiosity, resilience and care for our environment. Whether identifying insect homes, tracing water flows or discovering plant life cycles, children make discoveries that resonate beyond the classroom. It becomes part of their lived experience.

By taking Montessori education from our own walls into the woods, we invite each child to become a thoughtful, confident steward of the natural world. Together, MCH and Woldumar are cultivating inquisitive, caring citizens of tomorrow."
